Admissions & Referrals
Estaugh Estates Discovery House is being developed to serve adolescents age 13 and older who require out-of-home residential placement and whose needs can be safely supported within a non-secure, community-based residential environment.
Who We Are Designed to Support
Young people referred to Estaugh Estates may have experienced challenges including:
Placement disruption
Trauma exposure
Family conflict
Educational difficulties
Emotional dysregulation
Poor impulse control
Difficulty following expectations
Aggressive behaviors
Unauthorized absence or elopement behaviors
Behavioral-health treatment needs
Juvenile-justice involvement
Challenges preparing for greater independence or transition
The presence of a diagnosis, treatment history, difficult behavior or previous placement disruption does not automatically determine whether a young person is appropriate for the program.
Every referral is reviewed individually.
Referral Review
Referral review considers the young person's current functioning, strengths, supervision and safety needs, medical needs, medication needs, educational circumstances, behavioral-health needs, family relationships, legal or court involvement, accessibility needs, existing service plans and anticipated transition goals.
The purpose of the review process is to determine whether Estaugh Estates can safely and appropriately meet the young person's needs within the program's staffing, training, physical environment and non-secure scope of care.
When Another Level of Care May Be Needed
Estaugh Estates is not designed to replace hospitalization, secure detention, psychiatric residential treatment, continuous medical care or other specialized services beyond the scope of the program.
If a young person's needs require a level or type of care that Estaugh Estates is not licensed, staffed or qualified to provide, another placement or service may be more appropriate.
